Overview
Shadow Charting presents an opportunity to practice your true-to-life activities for Cardiology, OR, and Radiology specialties in both Cerner (or other current EHR) and APeX with support from your APeX Project team. Questions are welcome - your onsite support will have ready answers to help you prepare for Oct. 4.
Shadow Charting Details
- Who: Saint Francis and St. Mary’s Cardiology, OR, and Radiology staff
- What: The goal of Shadow Charting is to complete your common EHR workflows in APeX. Your APeX Project Team will provide support as you practice your “Day-in-the-Life” documentation in APeX.
- Why: The purpose of Shadow Charting is to preview APeX workflows, demonstrating how you chart today in Cerner, using your new EHR (APeX), reinforcing your comfort and confidence navigating APeX.
- Where: In your Saint Francis and St. Mary's departments
- When: Timelines vary - please review the details by specialty below for specifics:
- OR staff began Shadow Charting activities at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025.
- Cardiology staff will begin Shadow Charting activities the week of September 22.
- Radiology staff will begin Shadow Charting activities the week of September 29.
- Important: All APeX training must be completed to gain access to participate in Shadow Charting activities.
