Overview
Patient Flow Day is a collaboration between Saint Francis and St. Mary’s Operations and the APeX Project Team to share a preview of integrated patient flow workflows with operational owners and staff. Patient Flow Day presents an opportunity to see true-to-life patient movement activities in preparation for October 4, 2025, APeX Go-Live.
Patient Flow Day Details
- Who should participate in Patient Flow Day: Saint Francis and St. Mary’s clinical department managers, plus any Super Users or departmental staff who would like to participate.
- Patient Flow Day is a virtual event, so engagement is open to all!
- Why: The goal of Patient Flow Day is to provide a preview of common “Day-in-the-Life" patient movement workflows in APeX, demonstrating how patients move from department to department and between Saint Francis, St. Mary’s, and other UCSF locations. The selected workflows are common patient transfers that happen today in Cerner. Below is a listing of some of the workflows our team will preview:
- Overview of APeX’s Unit Manager
- ED to Acute Care – Ready to Move with Automatic Transport Creation
- To and From UCSF Saint Francis/St. Mary’s Transfers
- UCSF Academic Medical Center transfers to UCSF Saint Francis/St. Mary’s
- PACU to Acute (OAS/OSP to Inpatient)
- Inpatient Rehab using Transfer Center
- Discharge/Transport - Home with Automatic Discharge
- Nurse Transport
- Bed Clean/Non-Bed Clean
- Overview of Capacity Management Dashboard
