Overview

Saint Francis and St. Mary’s hospitals will go live on APeX (UCSF’s Epic EHR) on Oct. 4. Follow the quick links below for access to the UCSF accounts, hardware, and software you'll need on and after go-live.

Accounts and access

Applications
Most applications you’ll need for your work at UCSF will already be installed on your UCSF computers. Several CommonSpirit Health apps will remain available for a period after go-live on the Quick Links menu on the Saint Francis and St. Mary’s website homepage.

APeX access and Citrix
Launch APeX (Epic) from a UCSF computer or Citrix for remote access. See this tip sheet.

Connecting to the UCSF wireless network
The UCSF Wireless service provides secure communications to UCSF resources and networks. 
Connect to Wi-Fi.

UCSF account password
All staff accessing UCSF resources must have a password for their computers, email, and access to email and Office 365 applications on their mobile devices.​

GlobalProtect VPN
Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN keeps you, your data, and UCSF safe, regardless of where you are when you connect. ​

Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Duo MFA helps UCSF IT protect you, your work, and all of UCSF by providing a second layer of protection beyond your UCSF username and password, ​ensuring that every login from every device is legitimate.

Tap-and-Go (Imprivata)
Tap-and-Go is a form of contactless authentication where you swipe your badge to log in to your computer. You will need to register your badge to access Tap-and-Go functionality.

Hardware and software

MD Link
Required for non-foundation surgeons and surgical schedulers placing case requests and pre-op orders, supporting documentation uploads.

Voalte 
Voalte has replaced TigerConnect and Vocera as the new clinical communication application.

Dragon

Haiku
Mobile application for APeX. Please note: Must configure Microsoft Intune for encryption purposes.

Adding a printer
Printers and multi-function devices are available in clinical and administrative workspaces. ​

File storage
If you haven’t already done so, you should transfer your Google Drive files to a UCSF-provided storage solution. ​

Telephones
UCSF IT will be making changes to telephone services across St. Mary’s Hospital, effective Oct. 4. ​

Mobile devices
You can install Outlook email and other Microsoft 365 apps on both personally owned or UCSF-managed mobile devices (phone, tablet, etc.) using the Intune Company Portal. ​
